Heather Hudson Designs
“Save where you can, so you can buy what you want”
Family and households go hand in hand for this southern girl. Born in Roanoke, VA, one of five children, some of Heather’s fondest memories revolve around her home, from eating around the kitchen table or sitting on the porch with friends and family, small talk and laughter were a given.
Their home was filled with love and laughter, where creativity and spontaneity were highly encouraged. Rearranging of furniture and moving décor was a weekly norm for the Hales household. Heather gives her mother Judi, a now retired interior designer, all the accolades that moved her into the world of interior design and décor.
Heather began as an apprentice with Signature Interiors in Greensboro, NC. She went on to study design and marketing, but found that the décor of design kept her interest peaked. A forward thinker, innovation and creativity took hold and Heather has never looked back. As the saying goes, do what you love, love what you do! From Florida to the Tennessee mountains to the shoreline of the Carolinas, Heather has many life lessons to share. She continues to enjoy custom design work as well as turn key projects for investors. Her journey is constantly evolving as she describes herself to be somewhat like a storyteller. Clients hire me to write their biographies, instead of words she uses fabric, furniture, nature, architectural elements and personal collections.
Collections and décor….
Heather is passionate about integrating collections throughout the home. Whether they are family heirlooms or a collection beautiful finds from the beach. Collections can derive from many types of platforms and evolve into prettiness on a wall, on bedding, in frames, even on Christmas trees! Heather goes on to say, “it is what we do with our collections that make them come alive, turns them into conversational pieces.” Living on the coast, you can bring the outdoors in, adding a timeless feel to your space. What an added bonus! One of Heather’s favorite mantra’s,
“home wasn’t built in a day”
So, through dialogue, creative flare and inspiration, a house becomes a home and in turn becomes your “happy place”!
You can find Heather at Inlet Blue Market in Surf City, NC. She has partnered with three other designers sharing a cohesive space that is filled with unique finds, home furnishings and of course, the beach is just a walk away!!
